2009 Season

ANU Womens Soccer Club is in full swing for the upcoming season. Players are training and the Premier League Team will soon be competing in the Fed Cup.

If you would like to join ANU Womens Soccer Club come to one of our training sessions. We have players of all ability levels and field teams from Premier League to Division 6. New players, to the club and to the game, are always welcome.

Training is on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Willows Oval, ANU (right next to Barry Drive). Training starts at 6pm. It goes for roughly 2-2.5 hours.

Also, on Sunday 22 March we are having a Gala Day. ANU teams play Weston Creek for the annual trophy. You do not have to be registered to participate, just keen to play. Some come along to a training session and get involved in a team for Gala Day.

Information about registration will be posted soon. Registration does not occur until early April. If you have any questions, please email anuwsc@hotmail.com

Match Report

Team: The Strollers SL3

Date: 6 July 2008

Opposition: O’Connor Knights

Score: 0-2

Keeper(s): Lyndall Kennedy

The Strollers fought out a tough game against our old nemesis team, O’Connor Knights. The match was played on one of the tiny fields at Radford which meant there was less room to move the ball around the field. The strollers put on a very solid first half with the defence proving especially tight. At half time the score was 0-0 and we were hopeful of capitalising in the second half. Unfortunately we came away with a 2-0 loss with one of their goals scored after a fast break and the second an unlucky own goal (as was pointed out after the game - our first goal in a few weeks!). The Strollers are expecting to come back refreshed from the week break ready to take on Canberra City.
